Malwarebytes does a great job of removing harmful software from your Mac, but it sometimes leaves bits and pieces of the malware on your Mac. I’ll be knocking on wood after I complete this but for the moment this choice has been phenomenal and it’s much less trouble than Explorer. As strange as it may sound, I have not used ANY virus protection for just over 70 days now and have only experienced a few minimal intrusions that were easily removed. Many people have known that Apple products don’t seem to be as susceptible to Viruses as most PC’s but find them difficult to use.

At the suggestion of a friend, I downloaded the Free version for Windows and have been unquestionably amazed at the benefits. Over the past 3 months, I have opted for using Apple Safari as my only Browser even though I use a Windows PC. These are really good programs or at least from my experience but I’d like to make one additional comment if it’s alright.
It’s benefits are junk file/clutter removal, internet security cleanup, a desk top incinerator for absolute removal of unwanted ‘stuff’, memory retrieval/defrag process, registry repair/optimizer application and a damn fine system defragmenting option that continually keeps my older computer on line. It has no Virus remover but has Spython for removing spy ware. Manufactured by Iolo Corporation and has version 7 & 8 available but for my experience, 6 is far superior. (5) System Mechanic 6 is my absolute favorite utility program. Easy to use and from my perspective, it works as it say’s by removing many kinds of infections. (4) SuperAntiSpyware Remover is a free program that I downloaded from Tech Republic and I’ve got to say that it is a real decent program. (3) AdAware SE moves a little slow but it runs a thorough scan so be sure to configure it so you will receive the optimal performance based on your computer needs.(available at Lavasoft) I like this program because it makes me think that some hacker gets smacked on his head every time HiJack This ! finds his none sense. Even a BHO under Internet Explorer that has been compromised will be reset to the original URL values. You’ll receive the list by selecting “Do a system scan Only.” After viewing the list, you can high light each item and be given a complete definition of it’s properties, dangers and told what will happen if it is unwanted. The list will show the product name, it’s location and it’s path. (2) HiJack This ! is an application that will identify every item functioning in your system registry by providing you with a list. If, however, you have a nasty virus, the site also offers Virus Removal tools for many downloader trojans, Rootkits…etc and the program is not too intrusive nor difficult to use. (1) AVG FREE [key in AVG FREE and select from Grisoft) Infections are quarantined and removed at your discretion. This is the order of installations I recommend: If this drive also contains your system OS and you are using Windows XP then you can try installing these Free software programs. Afterwards, you can insert your burned disk and scan each file prior to re-installation onto your computer. The best solution would be to burn the items you wish to save onto a CD or DVD for later scanning and re-install or reformat the disk in question. If in question then either reformat the storage drive after saving the files you want to keep or I’ll recommend some software applications to try.
You may have cross contamination if you have multiple hard drives on your computer.
